Many children require extra support and tuition in the most important curriculum areas - Mathematics, Reading, Writing and Spelling. Very often, children who have difficulties in these areas, require one-on-one support from a tutor with specialist subject knowledge. I have tutored many children before, especially in the area of Maths, with excellent results and would love to make a difference with your child. I believe that tutoring is a shared approach. Before I work out a programme of support, I will give your child assessments in the area(s) of need, will look at any school data and assessment results that help to give an indication of where difficulties may lie, and will also talk with your child about what they themselves think they need help with. After each session I will give you an overview of what has been covered and how you can help your child for the rest of that week. Weekly activities will be provided for extra support.
Here is a breakdown of what I can offer:
Full assessment in the area of need.
Identification of where learning difficulties lie.
A targeted and systematic week by week approach in the areas of need.
After-session chat with you about what the session has been about, the strategies involved and how they are used (as appropriate).
Activities to use throughout the week to enhance progress.
Regular assessment and progress updates.
And most importantly - an honest and open approach to how your child is doing.
Please note that for children to make expected progress, a weekly tutoring session will not help without your support. Whilst I provide the expert and specialist knowledge, I will provide activities for you to work on with your child during the rest of the week. It is expected that daily practice of activities will occur and this is the thing that will make all the difference.
